For years I convinced myself that it was too hard making a pasta sauce from scratch.  Not sure where that false belief came from but we recently had dinner with my brother and his girlfriend who made her own sauce and inspired me to come up with my own!

This is the pasta sauce recipe I use for any pasta dish that I want a tomato sauce with even ravioli and tortellini etc.

If this recipe makes more than you would use in a single meal, it also does really well in the freezer.  I used sandwich bags (once it’s cooled) so it stacks nicely in the freezer and is quick and mess free to thaw.

Rich Tomato Pasta Sauce

Ingredients

Heat on low in a large saucepan, stirring occasionally for about 10 minutes.
Stir in, turn the heat up to a gentle boil and cover with a lid. Let is cook for 15 minutes, stirring now and then.

Recipe Notes

This pasta sauce needs to cook low and slow so go easy on the heat. Leave it on the heat until it gets to the consistency you like your pasta sauce.
